What is the Difference Between Cold Press and Masticating Juicer

A masticating juicer also called a slow or cold press juicer is a type of juicing machine that juices fruits and vegetables very slowly when compared to regular juicers. If you want to do green leaf and vegetables, this is the best juicer to have but if you want to do fruits and vegetables, centrifugal is the one to go for.

  • The masticating slow juicer includes a strong auger/single gear inside that rotates very slowly crushing ingredients
  • For it to work you simply add the ingredients, using a pusher pushing them towards the auger that crushes and pushing them through a sieve that separate juice and pulp into different containers.
  • With slow juicing machine you get an instruction manual to get you started, a cleaning brush looking like a manual toothbrush to make cleaning juicing parts as fast and easier as possible
  • You also get separate containers for juices and pulp
  • The machine is quiet in action when compared to the fast juicers and the juices it produces can be stored for up to 3 days when compared to the one produced by centrifugal juicing machine that need to be consumed immediately to avoid oxidization
  • Slow Cold press juicers can juice carrots, spinach, apples, lemons and all kinds of both soft and hard fruits and vegetables easily and give you a healthy drink. With its slow motion, you get more juice than with a regular juicer
  • To make cleaning it easier, simply wash it in warm soap water immediately after finishing juicing.
  • You need a place to store it as it a little bit, bigger than a blender
  • They are quite affordable, as you can get one on budget between £30 and £250

Cons

  • They work slowly compared to the fast juicers and
  • Are quite expensive than the centrifugal ones
  • Its juices lack fibres as when juicing it separates the juice from the pulp. If you want some fibres you have to pick them from the pulp container and add them manually.

Are Masticating Juicers Really Better?

What makes the Masticating juicers better than a normal juicer, what makes them stand out from the rest is their ability to juice all kinds of fruits and vegetables, hard and soft ones including leaf greens with ease.

When in operation, they work slowly extracting all vitamins and nutrients even from hard parts of the fruits. And the best part is that its juices can be stored for a long time compared to the ones made by fast juicers.

They are quiet when in action make them home friends especially if you are living in a flat or with harsh neighbors.

Are Cold Press Juicers Worth It?

Whether cold press juicers are worth it or not depends on what you want it for. If you just want to juice green leaf and vegetables then it is worth it. But if you just want it for fruits and veggies or just a certain type of fruits or vegetables then you better go for specific juicing machines like citrus juicers for wheatgrass or just centrifugal ones.

Cold Press vs  Masticating Juicer : Differences

Cold press and masticating juicers are the same product, with no differences between the two. Some call them cold press as less heat is involved in pressing the ingredients, slow juicers because they juice slowly and some call them masticating. The same thing, named differently due to its functionalities.
